Billing Specialist I

Summary:

This position is responsible for Billing processes for all Properties (Newspapers) owned by MediaNews Group. This includes, but is not limited to; rating, billing, custom contracts, special pricing, contract entry, adjustments. A Billing Accountant may be assigned to the Advertising side of the business.

What you will do:

• For assigned Properties (Newspapers), enter and test advertising rates and discount programs

• Input and process advertising contracts; accurately assigning rates and ad tiers

• Assist with generating billing for all advertising revenue

• Assist sales organization with ad order entry and rating

• Perform advertising research and assist with resolving unapplied balances Input advertising adjustments

• Help resolve rating errors

• Work "wrong rate and rating error queues" in Mactive

• Field incoming calls with billing questions

• Customer service to sales reps and external subscribers/advertisers

• Take initiative to refine procedures, use tact and diplomacy in servicing the client and communicating with others and demonstrate ethical behavior

What you will bring:

• Accounting process and controls knowledge

• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions (including process, policy and procedures manuals), correspondence and financial documents

• Demonstrated ability to create Excel spreadsheets using formulas as needed

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

• Self-initiative, good interpersonal skills, attention to detail, team collaboration skills, customer-focused

• Associate's degree or two years' experience within MNG required; Bachelor's degree in business and/or a combination of college education and experience preferred

• Knowledge of automated billing systems (Mactive and/or PBS system preferred)

Benefits and Compensation:

The hourly wage is $19.25. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
