About the Role:
Vytwo is looking for a talented Bioinformatics Pipeline Test Engineer to join our growing healthcare team in San Diego, CA. Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute test strategies for bioinformatics data pipelines in a healthcare environment
- Validate genomic data processing workflows including variant calling, alignment, and annotation pipelines
- Collaborate with bioinformatics scientists and software engineers to identify and resolve pipeline defects
- Develop automated test frameworks to ensure pipeline accuracy, performance, and scalability
- Perform regression, integration, and end-to-end testing on NGS and multi-omics data workflows
- Document test plans, test cases, and quality metrics in compliance with healthcare regulatory standards
- Monitor pipeline outputs and flag data quality issues across large-scale genomic datasets
Requirements:
- Experience in bioinformatics pipeline testing, QA engineering, or a related role in healthcare or life sciences
- Proficiency with bioinformatics tools such as GATK, BWA, STAR, Samtools, or similar
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or R for test automation and data validation
- Familiarity with NGS data formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF) and genomic data processing workflows
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized environments (Docker, Nextflow, Snakemake)
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance and healthcare data quality standards is a plus
- Must be local to California or willing to relocate to San Diego, CA
