Job Description

Join a Growing Medical Equipment Service Company

OMI MedTech is expanding our Tampa Bay service team and is looking for an experienced Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) / Field Service Technician.

This is a hands-on field service position supporting hospitals, surgery centers, physician offices, and other healthcare facilities throughout the Tampa Bay area. The technician will perform preventive maintenance, electrical safety inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of biomedical equipment.

Experience with imaging equipment, C-arms, X-ray systems, sterilizers, or autoclaves is highly valued, but you do not need to be an expert in every type of equipment we service. We are looking for a strong technician who can troubleshoot, work independently, communicate professionally with customers, and continue learning.

What You'll Work On

Equipment may include:

  • General biomedical equipment
  • Patient monitors and vital signs equipment
  • Hospital beds and stretchers
  • Infusion and syringe pumps
  • AEDs and other emergency equipment
  • Electrosurgical units (ESUs)
  • Autoclaves and sterilizers
  • Anesthesia equipment
  • C-arms and mobile fluoroscopy systems
  • X-ray and other diagnostic imaging equipment
  • Other medical equipment found in hospitals, ASCs, and physician offices

What You'll Do

  • Perform annual and scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) inspections.
  • Perform electrical safety inspections and document results.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and electronic medical equipment.
  • Respond to customer service calls throughout the Tampa Bay area.
  • Complete accurate field service reports and equipment documentation.
  • Identify equipment requiring repair, additional testing, or replacement.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly with customers.
  • Maintain assigned tools, test equipment, parts, and service vehicle.
  • Work independently in the field while collaborating with OMI MedTech's technical team when needed.
  • Assist with imaging equipment service and C-arm PMs based on experience and training.
  • Participate in manufacturer and company-provided technical training.

What We're Looking For

Preferred qualifications:

  • 2+ years of biomedical equipment service, field service, or related technical experience.
  • Experience performing hospital or healthcare facility preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with medical equipment such as patient monitors, ESUs, sterilizers, autoclaves, anesthesia equipment, beds, pumps, or similar devices.
  • Imaging, X-ray, or C-arm experience is a major plus.
  • CBET, CABT, military biomedical training, or an associate degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field is a plus but not required for an experienced candidate.
  • Strong documentation and computer skills.
  • Professional communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage a field schedule and work independently.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel throughout the Tampa Bay service area.

Don't check every box? We still encourage you to apply. If you have a strong biomedical or electronics background and are interested in expanding your experience into additional equipment types, we'd like to hear from you.

Why OMI MedTech?

We offer:

  • Retirement savings plan
  • Company vehicle for field service
  • Company-provided tools and test equipment
  • Paid technical training and professional development

BMET I, BMET II, BMET III, Biomedical Equipment Technician, Biomedical Field Service Technician, Clinical Engineering Technician, Medical Equipment Repair Technician, Imaging Service Engineer, X-Ray Service Technician, C-Arm Service Technician, Sterilizer Technician, or Military Biomedical Equipment Technician.
