Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with oncologists to optimize treatment plans and supportive care measures for cancer patients.
  • Provide educational services and staff development programs to pharmacy staff, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in oncology, assisting with drug information and reviewing care plans.
  • Participate in rounds with healthcare professionals to optimize therapy based on national guidelines.
  • Educate patients on medication using the teach-back method for oral and intravenous chemotherapy.
  • Continuously review and update oncology care plans within the Electronic Health Record.
  • Identify and evaluate medication-related problems using clinical data.
  • Act as a preceptor for pharmacy residents and students.
  • Engage in Oncology Service Line meetings to enhance cancer care safety, efficacy, and quality.
  • Promote cost-effective drug therapy and focus on cost savings within the Oncology Service Line.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy and relevant residency or equivalent experience.
  • Licensed Pharmacist and Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a hospital setting with clinical and oncology training.

Preferred:

  • Completion of PGY-2 ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Residency in a related area.
  • PGY-1 ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Residency and three years of relevant experience with board certification in Oncology.
