Position Summary

The Brand & Communications Manager oversees Wellby Financial’s brand voice, external communications, and marketing content across channels, serving as the senior authority on verbal identity, public relations, and brand messaging. The role provides leadership for brand initiatives and content development, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities while expanding content capacity and supporting campaigns, partnerships, and media presence. Operating as both strategist and hands-on contributor, the position balances brand stewardship with direct creation of marketing and communications materials that support business objectives, member engagement, and community presence.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior steward of Wellby’s verbal identity, safeguarding and evolving brand voice and messaging standards across all marketing and communications channels and formats.
  • Provide senior editorial oversight to ensure brand consistency, clarity, and quality across campaigns, partnerships, and organizational initiatives, reflecting Wellby’s values and member experience.
  • Serve as a senior-level content creator for the Marketing & Communications team, developing high-quality marketing and communications materials including email campaigns, website copy, blogs, executive messaging, product and campaign messaging, and external communications.
  • Increase content production capacity and effectiveness by independently leading complex or high-visibility deliverables, reducing bottlenecks, and supporting marketing campaigns and organizational priorities.
  • Partner with the marketing department’s production and operations teams to ensure timely delivery of cohesive and effective messaging.
  • Maintain a forward-looking content pipeline aligned with campaign calendars and strategic priorities.
  • Provide senior-level messaging support for integrated marketing campaigns and enterprise initiatives by translating product, promotional, and strategic priorities into clear, compelling marketing narratives.
  • Ensure campaigns are supported with cohesive messaging across all channels and touchpoints, including leading development of press releases, external announcements, and media materials.
  • Support executive communications, speaking engagements, and public-facing messaging.
  • Identify and execute proactive media and thought leadership opportunities, while strengthening and maintaining media and community relationships that enhance Wellby’s brand visibility, credibility, and reputation.
  • Partner with senior leadership on reputation management and strategic external communications, providing guidance and execution for high-impact public-facing initiatives.
  • Lead organic social media strategy and content alignment with brand voice, campaigns, partnerships, and organizational priorities.
  • Ensure social channels support brand visibility, storytelling, community engagement, and reputation.
  • Lead execution of strategic sponsorships, partnerships, and event-related agreements, ensuring contractual deliverables are fulfilled and coordinated effectively across teams.
  • Ensure partnerships and sponsored activities strengthen Wellby’s brand by developing cohesive messaging and content that extend visibility, support activation, and align with strategic objectives
  • Support executive and organizational preparation for high-visibility events and engagements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, executive leadership, and external partners to ensure alignment of messaging and brand standards.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members on messaging, brand voice, and content quality.
  • Support development of scalable processes and frameworks for brand, PR, and content as the function grows.
  • Act as a trusted senior partner and extension of the Vice President of Marketing & Communications.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Knowledge of Wellby’s organizational functions and general operating policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Knowledge of personal computers, utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other software.
  • Knowledge of brand strategy, content development, and communications within a regulated or financial services environment.
  • Knowledge of integrated marketing campaigns and multi-channel messaging across digital and traditional platforms.
  • Knowledge of public relations strategy, media engagement, and reputation management.
  • Knowledge of design principles, visual identity systems, and brand asset management.
  • Skilled in operating computer equipment and general office machines such as personal computers, copiers, projection equipment, audio/video, Microsoft Teams, Zoom Video Communications, and adding devices.
  • Skilled in writing, editing, and storytelling across multiple marketing and communications channels.
  • Skilled in presenting messaging strategies and communications recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Skilled in problem solving, solution identification, and sound decision-making.
  • Skilled in reviewing, coaching, and providing constructive feedback to improve content and communications quality.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to efficiently understand and follow oral and written instructions, perform routine duties without close supervision, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with other team members.
  • Ability to coordinate several concurrent activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling, member-focused messaging.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels to uphold brand standards and drive consistency in messaging, tone, and style across all communications
  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate brand, reputational, and compliance-related risks.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, platforms, and evolving business needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The team member does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Complexity & Scope of Work

  • The team member follows Wellby’s policies and procedures, Team member Handbook, and federal and state laws and regulations in accomplishing assignments
  • The team member will ensure policies, procedures, and programs are consistently administered, aligned with organizational goals, and compliant with professional standards.
  • The team member performs routine and generally related tasks without supervisory direction.
  • Tasks may occasionally have to be coordinated, integrated, and/or prioritized.
  • Courses of action are determined by established procedures and/or the Vice President of Marketing & Communications
  • The team member’s work is reviewed periodically for accuracy, completion, and compliance with the policies and procedures.
  • The team member uses independent judgment in making decisions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • To perform this job successfully, the team member is frequently required to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.   • The team member must be able to exchange information, in person, in writing, and via telephone. Some degree of stress results from contact with management and other team members.
  • The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds across the office and load them onto shelves for various needs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Work involves the typical risks and discomforts associated with an office environment but is usually in an adequately cooled, heated, lighted, and ventilated area.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of seven (5) to ten (7) years of experience in brand management, communications, public relations, or marketing, preferably within the financial services or credit union industry required.
  • Demonstrated experience in content development across email, web, campaigns, and executive communications.
  • Experience leading public relations, media engagement, or external communications initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of branding and marketing within a regulated or financial services environment preferred.
  • Experience using Asana or comparable project management tools, the Meta platform, and HubSpot or other email marketing and CRM systems required
