Broadcast Intern, New Mexico Goatheads

Job Title: Broadcast InternJOB SUMMARY:The Broadcast Intern assists with the preparation and execution of New Mexico Goatheads game broadcasts throughout the 2026-27 season. This position works closely with the Broadcast Coordinator and game production staff to support live broadcasts, including graphics, statistics, equipment setup, research, and other production needs. The internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in professional sports broadcasting and live production. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable working in a fast-paced live sports environment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING: Assist the Broadcast Coordinator with preparation and execution of New Mexico Goatheads game broadcasts.Assist with broadcast operations for home and away games as assigned.Support pregame setup, equipment testing, and postgame breakdown.Prepare and organize rosters, statistics, game notes, research, and other broadcast information.Assist with live broadcast graphics, scoring information, player statistics, and other production elements.Monitor game action and help ensure broadcast information remains accurate and current.Assist with interviews, pregame coverage, postgame coverage, and other broadcast-related content.Help organize, maintain, and properly store broadcast equipment.Assist with audio, video, streaming, graphics, or other production responsibilities as assigned.Support the marketing and communications staff with broadcast-related content or projects when needed.Attend required production meetings, rehearsals, and pregame checks.Other duties as assigned.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Current college student or recent graduate pursuing broadcasting, journalism, communications, sports media, video production, or a related field preferred.Strong interest in professional sports broadcasting and live production.Knowledge of hockey preferred.Familiarity with broadcast equipment, graphics software, streaming platforms, statistics programs, or live production systems is a plus.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines in a live production environment.Ability and willingness to learn multiple aspects of broadcast production.Strong computer skills and comfort working with digital production systems.Reliable and punctual with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on the New Mexico Goatheads game schedule.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others; move about the facility; stand or remain in a stationary position for extended periods; operate computers and broadcast equipment; and position themselves as necessary to access production equipment and work areas.Must be able to transport, position, or move broadcast and production equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.Position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, computer use, and monitoring live game action.This position requires work in a loud, fast-paced arena and broadcast environment with varying lighting, noise levels, and temperatures.Must be able to work extended and non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
