Company Summary

Our client is an established commercial real estate investment management firm that has provided debt and equity capital for middle-market real estate projects across the United States for more than 25 years. The firm invests across the capital stack, from joint venture equity to senior and mezzanine debt, and manages a substantial portfolio on behalf of institutional investors. It is known for a lean, collaborative team where employees own their work, have direct access to senior leadership, and tend to build long careers.

Position Summary

This role is the dedicated systems owner for the firm's equity asset management technology stack, working directly under the VP of Business Applications. This person provides hands-on support for active data initiatives and plays a central role in evaluating and implementing a new equity asset management platform. The ideal candidate is a technically strong systems or business applications professional who is comfortable owning platforms with limited oversight once direction is set.

Key Responsibilities

Equity Platform Evaluation and Implementation

  • Work alongside the VP of Business Applications to lead the evaluation of a new equity asset management platform, defining business requirements, assessing vendor capabilities, and supporting the selection process
  • Translate equity asset management workflows such as budget versus actuals, quarterly reporting, and asset surveillance into clear functional requirements for prospective platforms
  • Develop an understanding of how data will flow from source systems into the future platform, coordinating with the enterprise data team as needed
  • Support user acceptance testing, data validation, and rollout activities as the implementation progresses

Data Initiatives and Hands-On Support

  • Serve as the business applications point of contact for the pro forma extraction initiative, working directly with vendors and internal stakeholders to manage data flows, validate output, and resolve issues
  • Provide the same hands-on support for the asset-level financial and operational data initiative, coordinating with sponsors, vendors, and internal users to ensure accurate ingestion and normalization of sponsor-provided actuals
  • Validate extracted and ingested data against source materials, flagging discrepancies and driving them to resolution

Systems Administration

  • Own day-to-day administration, configuration, and support for the equity application stack, including Yardi, Argus, Chatham, and related platforms
  • Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions for equity asset management users across platforms
  • Maintain application documentation including process flows, data mappings, and user guides

Functional Fluency and Reporting

  • Develop strong working knowledge of equity asset management data structures to support reporting, analytics, and data validation
  • Extract and interpret third-party property management system data to support equity workflows including budgets, actuals, and quarterly reporting

Business Requirements and Stakeholder Support

  • Partner with asset management professionals to document workflows, identify system gaps, and translate business needs into application requirements
  • Support the VP of Business Applications in preparing business requirements, functional specifications, and vendor-facing materials
  • Contribute to the business applications technology roadmap for equity-related platforms and initiatives

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years in a business analyst, systems, or technology role, with system administration experience strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Yardi or another major real estate property management system such as MRI, RealPage, or Entrata; functional fluency required and administration experience preferred
  • Experience with Argus preferred
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data validation, reporting queries, and field-level data investigation; not a daily requirement but expected when needed
  • Familiarity with data ingestion or financial data normalization workflows; experience supporting ETL or API integrations is a strong differentiator
  • Experience participating in or supporting a software evaluation or platform implementation is preferred
  • Exposure to real estate equity asset management workflows such as budgeting, actuals, quarterly reporting, and asset surveillance is a plus but not required
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate between business users and technical teams
  • Highly organized and self-directed, comfortable owning platforms and initiatives with limited oversight once direction is set
  • Bachelor's degree
