Business Data Analyst

Key Responsibilities

Data & Analytics

• Analyze fleet utilization, turn rates, and availability across branches and job sites
• Develop and maintain utilization of dashboards, KPIs, and executive reports
• Use telematics and ERP data to identify trends, risks, and optimization opportunities and billing
• Forecast equipment demand based on historical rental data, project schedules, and seasonal trends
• Track ROI, lifecycle costs, and performance by asset class

Fleet Optimization

• Identify underperforming, overutilized, and underutilized assets
• Recommend fleet redeployment, transfers, disposals, or acquisitions based on data insights
• Partner with rental and construction operations to balance fleet availability and revenue demand
• Support pricing, rental duration, and fleet mix decisions using utilization analytics

Cross-Functional Support

• Collaborate with maintenance teams to align downtime planning with utilization forecasts
• Work with procurement, fleet operations and finance on capital planning, budgeting, and fleet lifecycle strategies
• Strong leadership skills combined with the ability to communicate with multiple teams.

Systems & Data Integrity

• Maintain accurate fleet data within ERP, rental systems, and telematics platforms
• Improve data quality, reporting processes, and standard utilization definitions
• Automate reporting to improve speed and accuracy

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of experience in equipment utilization, fleet analytics, rental operations, or construction equipment management
• Strong understanding of rental fleet economics and construction equipment operations
• Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) preferred
• Experience working with ERP and rental systems (Viewpoint/Vista, RentalMan, or similar)
• Strong analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving skills
• The ability to demonstrate strong excel skills
• Ability to translate data into actionable operational recommendations

Preferred Experience

• Heavy equipment rental or construction industry background
• Telematics platforms (OEM or third-party)
• Capital planning, fleet lifecycle modeling, or utilization benchmarking
