Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated Business Intelligence Analyst responsible for analyzing oral health data to evaluate the utilization and reimbursement of dental services and the associated costs. The role involves working closely with the clinical teams, actuaries, and other stakeholders to identify trends, develop strategies to optimize resource use, create and maintain reimbursement analytics, and improve cost-efficiency with improved patient care quality.

The pay range for this position varies between $70,900.00 - $118,100.00. Washington Dental Service and its affiliates, including Delta Dental of Washington and Arcora Foundation intends to offer the selected candidate a base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. Base pay will also be adjusted based on the candidate's geographic location.

  • Uses various analytic tools (SQL, Tableau) to perform statistical analysis and visualization of clinical and claims data to create actionable insights and support decision-making.
  • Analyze claims and clinical data to identify financial improvement opportunities.
  • Provide analytics that support metric driven goals with providers.
  • Analyzes provider reimbursement patterns and provides actionable data to provider facing team members.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reports on utilization trends, cost drivers and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to develop and implement utilization management protocols and best practices.
  • Solutions and process improvement projects to achieve operational and business goals.
  • Conducts provider specific fraud and abuse research.
  • Monitor existing metrics and develop and propose new metrics.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices and regulatory changes related to cost and utilization of dental services.
  • Performs ad hoc research and analysis as needed.

Experience, skills, and education do you need to have to succeed in the position: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g. SSMS, SSRS, Snowflake, Excel, Tableau)
  • Ability to build data visualizations (e.g., Tableau).
  • Experience in healthcare systems, and knowledge of dental and insurance terminology.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to various stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
