Overview
Job Description
Diversified is a global B2B events and media company that strengthens business communities by fostering a space, in person and online, for professionals and businesses to connect and grow. The company serves as a trusted partner across several industries including active lifestyle, business management, clean energy, commercial marine, healthcare, seafood, technology and more. Established in 1949 and headquartered in Portland, Maine, the global company has divisions and offices around the world in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Diversified is a third-generation, family-owned business.
About our Events Industry Internship Program
This paid summer internship is based at our Portland, Maine headquarters. You'll take on meaningful work, meet real deadlines, and contribute directly to business operations. The internship program begins in June and runs through August (around 12 weeks). We seek candidates that are within commutable distance to our office and available for a hybrid schedule of 3-4 days per week (minimum 24 hours/week).
We believe a great internship is about more than just the project you're assigned to.
Our program is designed with a 360-degree development philosophy - meaning we invest in the whole professional, not just the role. Interns have access to LinkedIn Learning to build both technical and professional skills beyond their day-to-day work. You'll also have the opportunity to connect with and learn from colleagues across departments, gaining a broader understanding of how a global media and events company operates and how every team contributes to the bigger picture.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
Diversified is a safe, inclusive workplace for people from all backgrounds. We strongly encourage applications from individuals in historically underrepresented groups, including minoritized racial and ethnic communities, the LGBTQIA+ community, and those with disabilities.
About the Position
Diversified's Business Intelligence team is seeking a curious, tech-forward intern to take on a project that sits at the cutting edge of AI and knowledge management. You'll design and build a searchable documentation system using Claude Projects, making our Power BI dashboard environment more accessible and intuitive for users across the organization. This is a hands-on role with real business impact - you won't just be observing, you'll be creating a sustainable solution that outlasts your internship. A key part of the role involves documenting your entire process, from prompt engineering to maintenance protocols, so the system can be updated and scaled when the internship program concludes. If you love solving problems with technology and want to leave your mark on how a global media company manages its data knowledge, this project is for you.
What You Bring
- Experience with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar large language models - especially for documentation, research, or project work
- Familiarity with data analytics or business intelligence concepts; exposure to Power BI or data visualization tools is a plus
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to translate technical processes into clear, accessible documentation
- A self-starter mindset - someone who can work independently, ask smart questions, and think critically about user experience and information architecture
- Academic background in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Information Science, or a related field
What happens when the program ends?
By the time your internship concludes, you won't just walk away with a project under your belt - you'll leave with a stronger professional network, new skills, and a real understanding of what it means to work across a dynamic, interconnected business. We have been successful at hiring and retaining past interns for full-time, part-time, or temporary opportunities. We regularly offer opportunities for early career professionals.
Other Important Specifics:
