About the Team

The Finance Innovation & Transformation team accelerates eBay's Finance organization by modernizing data, reporting, and processes. We partner across finance and business teams to improve speed, accuracy, and scalability through pragmatic delivery, clear definitions, and effective partner enablement.

Role Summary

You will help standardize business definitions and taxonomies, support critical financial close/planning activities, strengthen data and reporting platforms, and enable partners with user access, documentation, and training-so teams can trust insights and move faster.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain and govern core business definitions, category taxonomies, and reporting dimensions; perform quality checks to ensure consistency across decision support and planning processes.

  • Support financial reporting and planning cycles: refresh reporting content, reconcile discrepancies, validate outputs, and prepare stakeholders for release with streamlined documentation.

  • Contribute to modern data platform initiatives: capture data requirements, partner with engineering on pipelines and views, and validate dashboards for accuracy, usability, and adoption.

  • Enable reporting portals: handle user/group access and roles, confirm top metrics and navigation, and guide stakeholders to definition-aligned views.

  • Build business-friendly definitions, how-to guides, and training materials to improve adoption and decision quality.

  • Provide backup coverage for teammates and perform knowledge transfer to ensure continuity, reduce single points of failure, and elevate team capability.

  • Actively explore and develop subject-matter expertise in AI systems for finance, becoming a trusted resource for responsible, effective adoption.

  • Partner across Finance, Business Units, and Data teams to align on Business Performance Metrics, region hierarchies, and category definitions and rollouts-tracking changes through testing to stable adoption.

  • Participate in issue triage and impact analysis for executive-facing metrics; raise risks early and track resolution through standard project tools.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in analytics, business systems, finance, or a related field, working with reporting, insights, and cross-functional teams.

  • Education: BA/BS in Business, Finance, Economics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent experience.

  • Analytical Skills: Experience using SQL to explore information, support reporting, and help investigate questions or inconsistencies. Strong Excel/Sheets skills (e.g., pivot tables, lookups) and familiarity with BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.

  • Systems & Reporting: Familiarity with data warehouses or reporting environments, with the ability to review outputs, understand how information is structured, and support validation efforts.

  • Quality & Detail Orientation: A strong attention to detail, with experience identifying issues, asking thoughtful questions, and helping ensure accurate and reliable outputs.

  • Communication: Ability to clearly document and explain concepts, translating technical details into accessible, business-friendly language.

  • Collaboration: Experience working with a variety of partners, including analysts, engineers, and business teams, to move work forward and deliver results.

  • Growth Mindset: Curiosity and a willingness to learn, take ownership, and continuously improve processes and ways of working.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with financial or business performance metrics (e.g., revenue, GMV, hierarchies, taxonomies), including supporting definition or standardization efforts.

  • Familiarity with how information flows across systems or experience working across multiple sources to support reporting.

  • Exposure to access management (roles/groups) or basic scripting/automation (e.g., Python, Apps Script).

  • Experience supporting financial reporting cycles, reconciliation, or variance analysis.

  • Experience working in complex or fast-paced environments (e.g., marketplace, payments, or transaction-based businesses); prior eBay experience is a plus.
