Job Description
The Business Valuation Manager will report to the Business Valuation Partner and play a critical role in leading valuation engagements involving complex financial matters. This includes work supporting litigation, tax compliance, and strategic business decisions, where conclusions must be well-supported, clearly documented and defensible.
ATLAS provides business valuation and forensic accounting services for closely held businesses, often in the context of shareholder disputes, divorce proceedings, estate and gift tax reporting, and other matters requiring a qualified, supportable fair market value conclusion. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to analyses that may be subject to review by attorneys, courts, and regulatory agencies, requiring a high level of precision, judgment, and professional rigor.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead and manage business valuation engagements from planning through final delivery;
- Supervise, mentor, and review the work of analysts and senior analysts;
- Apply advanced valuation methodologies, including asset, income, and market approaches, with appropriate selection and justification;
- Develop, review, and finalize valuation models, projections, and reports that are accurate, supportable and defensible;
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, and other financial data to support conclusions;
- Perform and review discount analyses, including lack of control and lack of marketability;
- Utilize industry research and transaction databases to support valuation positions'
- Ensure all deliverables meet professional standards and are suitable for third-party reliance, including legal and regulatory review
- Communicate findings and conclusions clearly to clients, attorneys, and internal stakeholders
- Support billing, collections, and overall engagement management
• Strong command of business valuation theory and application across complex engagements;• Demonstrated ability to produce defensible valuation analysis and reports;• Advanced financial modeling skills and high proficiency in Excel;• Experience working with financial statements, tax returns, and complex financial data sets;• Understanding of valuation considerations in litigation, dispute, and tax-related contexts;• Knowledge of discount methodologies, including lack of control and marketability;• Strong analytical thinking with exceptional attention to detail;• Ability to critically review work and ensure near error-free deliverables;• Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in high-stakes or technical environments;
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
- At least one professional designation in valuation or forensic services (e.g., CVA, ABV, ASA, CBA, CFE, CFF).
- Minimum of five years’ experience in valuation work.
