Job Summary:

The Buyer is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted material availability to support manufacturing operations through effective purchasing, inventory management, supplier coordination, and procurement activities. This role manages a large portfolio of raw materials, works closely with suppliers and logistics partners, and partners with internal stakeholders across supply chain, receiving, logistics, and operations to maintain inventory levels and support production requirements. The Buyer will play a critical role in maintaining material flow, resolving supply challenges, and supporting overall operational success.

This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to production performance while gaining exposure to procurement, planning, inventory management, logistics, and supply chain operations within a growing manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will initially partner with an experienced buyer before transitioning into independent ownership of assigned material categories.

Job Duties

  • Manage 400+ raw material SKUs to ensure adequate inventory levels and uninterrupted material availability for production.

  • Create, maintain, and manage purchase orders to support production and inventory requirements.

  • Communicate daily with suppliers and third-party logistics providers regarding deliveries, transportation schedules, material shortages, and order status updates.

  • Monitor inventory levels and proactively identify potential shortages, delays, and supply chain risks before they impact operations.

  • Expedite materials and reschedule orders as necessary to maintain production continuity.

  • Resolve receiving discrepancies and coordinate issue resolution with suppliers, receiving teams, and internal stakeholders.

  • Conduct monthly cycle counts and support inventory accuracy initiatives.

  • Maintain purchasing, inventory, and material management data using Excel and procurement systems such as Coupa.

  • Collaborate with supply chain, logistics, receiving, operations, and production teams to support business objectives and material flow requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve delivery performance, responsiveness, and overall supply chain effectiveness.

  • Analyze inventory trends, lead times, and supplier performance metrics to support continuous improvement efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field. Equivalent experiences may be considered.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, buying, procurement, supply chain, or related function.

  • Experience managing inventory levels, purchase orders, material availability, and supplier relationships.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to navigate, maintain, and manage purchasing and inventory data.

  • Experience balancing multiple priorities, lead times, shortages, and expedited orders in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with suppliers, logistics providers, and internal stakeholders.

  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with inventory control, demand planning, production planning, or materials management.

  • Experience using Coupa or other procurement/ERP systems. Training will be provided.

  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and reporting capabilities.

Compensation:

  • The typical base salary range for this role is $62,000.00 to $92,000.00.

  • Actual placement within this range will be determined by factors such as relevant, experience, education, skills and geographic location.
