SUMMARY:

Responsible for purchasing all raw material needed from suppliers to ensure a smooth flow of product to manufacturing. Develop and maintain supplier relationships and lean supply practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review MRP signal to determine demand and schedule material delivery dates to meet customer demand.
  • Purchase raw materials, MRO, and other non-raw material items.
  • Maintain files and records on all (open and closed) purchase orders.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries of quality product to meet our manufacturing requirements.
  • Drive down lead time with our supply base to reduce inventory levels.
  • Work with critical suppliers to develop supplier stock programs to support continuous supply.
  • Maintain current pricing of all raw materials and notify others on price changes.
  • Handle quotations and lead time inquiries for sales and current requirements.
  • Negotiate with our non-raw material suppliers to maintain or lower current pricing.
  • Facilitate discussion with suppliers and internal quality and operations on returns of defective raw material to suppliers.
  • Ensure material pull systems (kanbans) are maintained and improved, utilizing data and working with operations.
  • Identify and drive closure of root cause, develop solutions for part shortages, inventory inaccuracies and on time delivery misses to customers.
  • Support on time delivery and inventory goals.
  • Drive internal and external teams on supply chain projects.
  • Attend cross-over, non-conforming materials, sales & operations, and any other meetings deemed necessary by manager.
  • Walk the manufacturing floor as necessary during meetings, Kanban reviews, and material reviews.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by the Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Computer literacy (at least intermediate level Microsoft Suite, MRP/ERP systems)

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related discipline or at least three years of related experience
  • Knowledge of MRP systems, including inventory control, bills of materials, and routing functions
  • Familiar with Lean and 5S principles
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with various teams and suppliers.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • APICS certification preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Candidate must possess the ability and willingness to do the following (with or without reasonable accommodations):
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds at a time
