Job Description

SUMMARY

 

Conducts functions to inspect, test, assess and record product quality.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Following standard methods and techniques, inspects and tests product to ensure it meets customer and product specifications, and alert production when standards are not met

 

  1. Monitors product tracking methods (i.e. UPC, date stamps, etc.). Maintains customer samples.

 

  1. Puts questionable product on hold, organize re-work if necessary, and inspect returned product.

 

  1. Prepares printing supplies for production per work orders and schedule

 

  1. Prepares routine reports – including gathering and summarizing data

 

  1. Inspects and tests incoming supplies and raw materials

 

  1. Assists in training of other production employees in quality assurance procedures and standards

 

  1. May review overall SPC and data entry, may proof new printing plates, and may track and/or maintain label and ink inventory and generate requisition for appropriate approval

 

  1. Knowledgeable of proper packaging specifications and acceptable quality for any given product

 

  1. Completes a minimum of 4 rounds, per shift, to check quality on the floor

 

  1. Follows and participates in plant safe housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment. Participates in the GMP and HACCP programs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Previous quality assurance experience or achievement of the Production Tech B classification.

Ability to input and retrieve information on a computer. Basic understanding of equipment and processes.  Good communication and interpersonal skills using tact and diplomacy. Strong attention to detail.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
