Job Title: Dietary Cook/Server

Reports to: Dietary Supervisor / Administrator

Job Description:

Responsible for assisting and preparing food for the residents and assisting any residents that need help with their meals. The cook works in conjunction with the dietary manager to prepare meals. The cook will also assists in clean up, kitchen maintenance, and setting up and taking down the dining areas. Other job duties include delivering food to residents' rooms, preparing and serving snacks and taking inventory of food and kitchen supplies.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Prepares all food according to the menu in a safe, sanitary manner under the direction of the dining services coordinator/manager
2. Maintaining kitchen sanitation and safety standards under the direction of the Dining Services Coordinator
3. Prepares and cooks meals for residents within an assisted living and Memory Care community as well as maintain standards of kitchen cleanliness
4. Follows departmental procedures including sanitation, safety, and cleaning schedules
5. Report any concerns with the health and well-being to the Resident Care Coordinator or Nurse
6. Maintain and protect the confidentiality of resident information at all times.
7. Meet or exceed, the standards of appearance; comply with the sanitation rules, hygiene and health standards of community personnel
8. Serve meals in a fine and gracious manner, ensuring the dignity and nutritional needs of the residents
9. Assist with putting away and organizing the weekly orders
10. Keep the kitchen organized and orderly
11. Insure that the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area meets or exceeds the dietary manager's specifications and is in compliance with state regulations
12. Cooks meal according to the dietician approved menus
13. Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor

Job Qualifications:

1. Must possess a current Food Handler's Permit
2. Have the ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, supervisors, and associates
3. Must provide written proof of recent TB test or obtain within two weeks of date of hire
4. Must be positive and deliver a WOW experience through service
5. Performs unpleasant tasks with grace; works cooperatively with supervisors and displays willingness to assist co-workers
6. Willingness to work with the elderly

Universal Precautions:

Exposure to blood/bodily fluids is likely

Physical Requirements:

Has ability to do occasional heavy lifting (up to 40 lbs.)

Pursuant to the State of Utah rules and regulations governing assisted living communities we are not allowed to hire any person who has been convicted of a fellony or who is awaiting trial for a felony, a misdemeanor charge, or had a substantiated finding of abuse that would preclude them from working in our community. A background check will be run upon hire.
