CAD Technician – Primoris Distribution Services (Natural Gas)

Primoris Distribution Services is a leading natural gas contractor specializing in the installation, maintenance, and support of distribution and transmission infrastructure. With over 36 years of operational experience. PDS provides services ranging from small to large-scale, multi-million-dollar distribution and transmission programs.

Position Summary:

The CAD Technician will support natural gas projects by producing accurate CAD drawings and documentation based on information provided by field personnel. This role requires close coordination with field crews to develop as-laid/as-built drawings, test charts, and related documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance with client and company standards, and overall completeness. The position also requires clear, concise communication with the billing department and the customer’s GIS department to support project closeout and data accuracy.

Key Responsibilities:

Employees may perform any or all of the following duties:

• Develop base maps for field personnel so field redlines can be completed by field personnel
• Develop and maintain as-laid/as-built drawings, test charts, and documentation and ensuring they adhere to client and company standards
• Revise and update CAD drawings based on field redlines and other field-provided documentation
• Communicate directly with field personnel to clarify information and ensure drawing accuracy
• Apply Primoris and client drafting, engineering, and documentation standards
• Perform engineering support tasks such as document transmittals and project file organization under supervision
• Support PDS billing department and requests received by customer’s GIS (Geographic Information System) team
• Utilize document management systems to track and manage project records
• Ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency of all drawings and deliverables
• Identify potential issues or discrepancies and communicate finding to supervisor
• Support multiple projects while meeting deadlines
• Occasional short-term travel may be required
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

• Associate degree in Drafting & Design (preferred).
• Certificate in CAD drafting & design+ relevant experience may substitute.

Experience Level:

• Open to all experience levels; training and mentorship available based on experience

Required Skills:

• AutoCAD experience (2020 or newer required)
• Working knowledge of drawing scales, layouts, and reproduction of field redlines/engineering markups
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Experience using Bluebeam PDF
• Strong understanding of basic geometry
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in collaborative, fast paced environment
• Willingness and ability to communicate regularly across several departments to ensure document accuracy
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
