Job Description

Ardurra is seeking a CAD Technician III to support our Public Works team in San Antonio, TX!

This role supports municipal utility and infrastructure projects, with a focus on water, wastewater, sanitary sewer, force mains, and storm drainage systems serving treatment facilities and municipal systems.

Ardurra is a multidisciplinary civil engineering services firm delivering practical, innovative solutions to public-sector clients. Our San Antonio team works closely with local agencies on critical infrastructure projects impacting over two million residents.

Primary Function

The CAD Technician III performs intermediate to advanced drafting and production support for municipal utility and public works projects. This role works closely with engineers and designers to produce accurate, high-quality construction documents from engineering markups and redlines.

This is a production-focused role, not a design lead position.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare civil CAD drawings for water, wastewater, sanitary sewer, force mains, and storm drainage systems (plan & profile, details, layouts)
  • Develop and modify drawings using MicroStation (primary) and AutoCAD Civil 3D (secondary)
  • Translate engineering markups and redlines into construction-ready plan sets
  • Apply SAWS, City of San Antonio, and other municipal standards to all deliverables
  • Support layout development for utility systems and drainage infrastructure
  • Coordinate with engineers and project teams to ensure drawing accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and basic documentation
  • Maintain CAD standards, file organization, and drawing consistency
  • Provide guidance and support to junior CAD technicians as needed

Education & Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; Associate’s degree or technical certification preferred
  • 4-6 years of CAD drafting experience in civil / public works / municipal infrastructure
  • Strong experience supporting water, wastewater, and/or drainage projects
  • Proficiency in:
    • MicroStation (required / primary tool)
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred / secondary)
  • Experience working with municipal standards (SAWS, City of San Antonio, or similar)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, profiles, and markups
  • Working knowledge of utility systems and drainage design
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently in a production environment
