Job Description
Our client is seeking a CAM Engineer to support CNC programming and advanced machining operations in Spartanburg, SC. This position will translate engineering designs into efficient, accurate CNC programs while supporting tooling, process simulation, probing, automation, and continuous improvement on the manufacturing floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate CAD models and engineering drawings into CNC toolpaths and machine programs
- Verify solid models against 2D drawings when required
- Develop and maintain the integrity of equipment Digital Twins
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds based on materials and machining requirements
- Develop CNC programs and G-code for multi-axis machining operations
- Simulate and verify toolpaths to identify potential collisions, errors, and process issues before machining
- Support automation initiatives, including lights-out manufacturing
- Utilize Renishaw probing for setup conditions and pass/fail verification
- Develop workholding and tooling solutions in collaboration with the engineering team
- Support machine operators with program implementation and updates
- Maintain accountability for the quality and accuracy of CAM programs
- Perform additional manufacturing engineering tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
- 1–2+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with Mastercam
- Experience with VERICUT
- Multi-axis CNC machining experience
- Experience with Renishaw and Blum probing systems
- Proficiency with SolidWorks
- Knowledge of Siemens, Mazatrol, and FANUC machine programming languages/controls
- Experience with tooling design
- Strong understanding of CAM principles
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to manage timelines and meet commitments
