Job Description

SALARY RANGE

$25.00 - $26.00 per hour.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one-week to three-week sessions in both the traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K-8. Summer Camp is in session June 1 - August 21. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports. Specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science and more.

The camp office manager will be a main point of contact for families calling the office and will be responsible for knowing the whereabouts of all camps at all times. This position is vital in being the "glue" that keeps all camp communication flowing smoothly and knows when to disseminate key information to appropriate supervisors, in addition to also knowing where the actual "glue" and materials for camp projects is when staff need extra supplies.

The camp office coordinator will help create the rooftop playground schedule for the entire JCCSF Camps, help supervise camp day-to-day logistics, camper experiences, camper interactions, staff scheduling, staff support, and administrative office tasks. As a member of the camp leadership team, the office coordinator will play a lead role in the organization and implementation of staff training.

The ideal candidate will have administrative experience with a strong background working with direct customer service, young children in a camp or school setting, experience in organizing schedules and logistics, ability to wear many hats while multitasking, with an excellent attention to detail and a collaborative work environment.

RESPONSIBILITES

Programming

  • Function as a front-of-office staff
  • Update camp schedules and coordinate session welcome emails
  • Help update attendance
  • Help create schedule for staff, and keep track of changes
  • Support unit heads as needed
  • Help to track camp activities, campers, and supplies
  • Help plan and organize camp specific exhibits, and performances as needed
  • Track and order supplies
  • Assist in organizing camper pick-up process
  • Model appropriate behavior for campers and staff
  • Attend to ill campers and contact their families
  • Record and file all incident reports and calls home to families
  • Maintain the camp lost and found
  • Prepare Med bag contents and folders with assistance from camp Administrator
  • Additional responsibilities as required

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Member of camp leadership team
  • Help organize and lead portions of staff training
  • Learn how to appropriately respond to crisis situations
  • Create and keep track of staff schedules and schedule changes
  • Keep track of med bags and room assignment changes
  • Answer camp phone hotline
  • Keep the office organized and camp counselors motivated
  • Assist with medication check-in
  • Support camp office staff

REQUIREMENTS

  • Highly organized with a strong professional demeanor
  • Experience working with children 5-14 years old, preferably in a camp setting
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral
  • Have a knowledge of social media etiquette and excellent customer service skills
  • Dedication to and enthusiasm for working in camp, informal education and youth programs
  • Knowledge of summer camps
  • Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently

WORKING CONDITIONS

Will be working directly with staff, incoming campers and families. The primary location will be the Youth & Family office on-site at the JCC.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise
  • Position requires seated or standing use of a computer throughout the day.

STATUS

Non-benefited, non-exempt position

HOURS

  • Up to 25 hours in May- In-person leadership training 5/26-5/29;
  • 37.5 hour per week (6/1/26 - 8/21/26)

SCHEDULE

June 1, 2026 - August 21, 2026; 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, Monday- Friday
