Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Provide forpublic safety bymaintainingorder, responding to emergencies, and protecting students, employees,visitorsand property of the same and of the college.
Conducts patrols of an assigned area of the campus or the entire campus on foot, cart,bikeor patrol vehicle, responding to each need for campus safety service that is brought to his or her attention through observation, personalcontactor radio dispatch.
Opens,closesand secures facilities (proactive security), controls access, responds to alarms, initiates work orders for inoperative security and safety equipment and inspects facilities.
Investigates suspicious activity with the aim of crime prevention and apprehension of criminals.
Directs traffic,assistsmotorists, provides personal escorts after dark upon request, escorts money transfers asrequested, provides security, traffic control and crowd control atspecial eventsand campus activities,participatesin crime prevention and reduction programs, attends community meetings on problem resolution and service supportrepresentingthe department and Wofford College.
Maintains positive and effective public relations in support of the department and college while in the performance of his/her duty.
Enforces all applicable laws, campus regulations and department policies and procedures.
Makes arrestsin accordance withstate and federal laws.
Completes serious incident reportsin accordance withcollege policy and investigates all reports, complaints,incidentsand accidents.
Performs first aid and CPR services as.Assistsin response to fire and fire alarms.
Corrects/reports fire and safetyhazardsand responds to disasters, explosions, severe weathersituationsand other emergencies.
Follows officer safety procedures.

ABOUT WOFFORD COLLEGE
Wofford College, established in 1854, is a private liberal arts residential college located a few blocks north of downtown Spartanburg, South Carolina. Wofford offers 27 major fields of study to a student body of nearly 1,800 undergraduates and is nationally known for the strength of its academic program, outstanding faculty, and study abroad participation. Spartanburg is located in upstate South Carolina, 30 miles east of Greenville, South Carolina, an hour from Charlotte, North Carolina, and three hours east of Atlanta, Georgia.
