We are seeking a Cardiac Anesthesiologist to support the Veteran community in the Aurora, CO area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals.
Position Highlights:
- Logistics:
- Pay: $300 - $400 per hour.
- Contract Type: 1 base year with 1, 1-year option periods.
- Schedule: Operating room hours are 7:00 to 5:30 Monday through Friday.
- Location: 1700 N. Wheeling Street, Aurora, CO.
- Requirements:
- Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).
- Advance certification in Transesophageal Echocardiography.
- Fellowship training in critical care of cardiac anesthesia.
- Experience with CABG and cardiac valve procedures.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

What does a typical day look like for the Cardiac Anesthesiologist?
You will:
- Operating room hours are 7:00 to 5:30 Monday through Friday.
- Estimated 95% of the time is involved in direct patient care.
- Acute pain management, airway assistance, CPR, sedation, and anesthesia outside of the operating room as needed, and other tasks assigned by the anesthesia in charge for the day.
- Comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services, including patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic operations.
- Clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal, and radiological suites.
- Primary coverage for all patients in the short stay unit, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management.
- Consultative services at the patient's bedside if the patient is not ambulatory, and in the clinic setting if the patient is able to report to the outpatient clinic.
- Estimated 5% of the time is not involved in direct patient care.

If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.
