About the Role:

Job Summary

The Cardiology Clinical Education Coordinator is a registered nurse who functions under the direction of the Executive Director of Cardiology or Manager of Invasive Cardiology. This individual has advanced expertise and experience in invasive cardiology and patient care. This role is accountable for clinical staff development, unit-based education, and competency oversight. The coordinator provides continuing education formally and informally, facilitates orientation activities, and serves as a resource for staff, students, and orientees. The position promotes quality care standards, supports regulatory compliance, and drives patient safety initiatives. Responsibilities include guiding complex patient care, implementing departmental improvements, and mentoring staff. The role also involves assisting with clinical governance, quality assurance programs, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Direct patient care may be provided as needed for adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications: Licensed to practice as a RN in Georgia.

  • Educational Requirements: Associates Degree

  • Minimum Experience: Five (5) years experience in invasive cardiology subspecialty. Must be able to precept and function in the Cath & EP Labs.

  • Preferred Educational Requirements: A degree in Nursing (either BSN or MSN).  BSN strongly encouraged within five years.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care.

  • Guide staff and students in developing and implementing interdisciplinary care plans.

  • Perform and document patient assessments; make recommendations for complex or special needs cases.

  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and healthcare team members.

  • Monitor and support compliance with clinical pathways and standards of care.

  • Evaluate patient responses to treatment and recommend modifications as needed.

  • Assess staff and student learning needs; provide and evaluate education.

  • Participate in hospital and community committees to ensure accurate communication of clinical information.

  • Provide clinical expertise and assist staff with difficult or unusual procedures.

  • Conduct and evaluate staff development programs, including infection control education.

  • Assess technical skills of cardiology staff and provide feedback for performance reviews.

  • Support quality assurance activities, including compliance with PI standards and chart reviews.

  • Determine staffing needs based on patient acuity and scope of practice; assist with staff assignments.

  • Monitor staff compliance with unit routines and patient care standards.

  • Address and report shift-related issues such as patient or physician concerns.

  • Assist with orientation of new personnel and provide impromptu instruction on techniques and procedures.

  • Complete mentoring requirements and assist with staff mentoring as needed.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and readiness for inspections.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and physician groups to support patient care and education.

  • Provide direct patient care in the Cath Lab as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.
