We are now hiring for a full-time Career Coach to join our Howard & Evanston Team!

SALARY:The average starting salary for this position will fall in the range of $46,000 - $51,000 annually. Where candidates fall in this range will be based on skill and experience level. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform situational assessments and vocational exploration activities.
  • Assess and address barriers to employment. Provide supportive services where appropriate.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individual employment plans.
  • Coordinate and communicate with referral sources, community-based organizations, and other workforce providers.
  • Monitor employment retention, secure employment verifications, and enter proof of employment into the required database.
  • Works within program, grant, and agency requirements to meet deadlines.
  • Utilizes a team approach and works with other workforce staff to plan and implement and reach program deliverables and goals.
  • Travel worksites, community meetings, etc.
  • Maintain job seekers' physical and electronic files in the required database.
  • Facilitates Job Readiness Training and other group activities.
  • Assists Job Seekers with creating and editing resumes and cover letters.
  • Contact job seekers every week after enrollment and gradually decrease contact after employment placement.
  • Conducts mock interviews.
  • Assist in establishing employment goals.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional development (required).
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office but willing to learn (shows level of growth in specified period).
  • Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  • Works effectively with diverse staff and service populations.
  • Responsible for providing exceptional customer service.
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills.
  • May be required to work one Saturday and at least one late night a month.
  • Written and verbal communication skills Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office but willing to learn (shows level of growth in a specified period).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education and six (6) years of training or demonstrated experience in providing workforce development/case management services for at-risk populations-required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business, Communications, or a related field and three (3) years of training or demonstrated experience in providing workforce development/case management services for at-risk populations-preferred
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and goal setting, required.
  • Professional development, required.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and goal setting, required.
  • Certified Workforce Development Professional Certificate preferred or must secure it within 1 year of employment, preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, professional experience, and lived experience that demonstrate the required competencies will be considered

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Satisfactorily pass all relevant screenings and criminal background checks.

TRANSPORTATION/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Driving for work required with a personally owned vehicle. Travel between sites required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle, and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, and viewing a computer terminal. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
