Position Summary:
The Cashier provides courteous, accurate, and efficient point-of-sale service within the hospital cafeteria, supporting a positive dining experience for patients, visitors, and staff. This role processes cash and electronic transactions, assists customers with food selections, and helps maintain a clean, well-stocked service area. Working collaboratively with food service team members, the Cashier follows established food service procedures, maintains accurate transaction records, and contributes to safe, efficient daily operations. Through strong customer service skills and a welcoming approach, the position supports Trinity Health's commitment to hospitality and service excellence within a healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process customer purchases by accurately receiving payments, issuing change, and maintaining proper cash-drawer controls in accordance with department procedures.
- Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner, including helping locate items and answering basic product questions.
- Restock food, beverages, utensils, and supplies to ensure availability throughout operating hours.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the cashier station, service counters, and surrounding dining areas in compliance with food-safety standards.
- Record and reconcile transactions, report discrepancies, and follow established cash-handling policies to support financial accuracy.
- Collaborate with nutrition services staff to support smooth cafeteria operations, respond to customer needs, and uphold Trinity Health service expectations.
