Job Description
Major Job Activities
Perform repairs on scheduled maintenance aircraft as authorized by supervisory personnel.
Assist with ordering tools, parts, and material.
Ensure proper operation and use of test equipment and Ground Support Equipment.
Maintain cleanliness of the work center and assigned work area.
Adhere to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.
Adhere to the Tool Control Program.
Comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations.
May be required to perform Collateral Duty Inspector functions when qualified and certified.
Document work accomplished on government and company electronic and/or manual information systems.
Must possess personal tools required to perform the work in the classification.
Assist with engine wash by performing ground turns (if qualified and assigned).
May be required to remove and reinstall cowlings, doors, and panels.
Monitor and assist the line move crew when operating inside the hangar.
Perform other related duties within the job classification.
Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory, and preservation of Government‑owned and Company‑owned equipment.
Material & Equipment Directly Used
Identify the equipment (hardware/software) as well as materials used in the position.
Working Environment
Work conditions may range from minimal physical discomfort to environments with inclement weather, including severe temperature changes, wind, and rain.
May be required to work in areas with high noise hazards.
May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or electrical shock hazards.
Physical Activities
Climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, extensive walking, and working in tiring or uncomfortable positions.
May require lifting objects up to 50 pounds.
Qualifications
Education / Certifications
- One year of related experience may substitute for one year of education (if degree is required).
- FAA Airframe or Powerplant License (A or P) preferred.
- Hydraulic Fluid Sampling Certification
- Aircraft Towing Certification
- GSE Licensing
- Physical as required by NAVAIR 3710.1 Series
- Airfield Operator's License
- Valid State Driver License
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Formal schooling required (limited, task‑specific).
Experience
- Three (3) years documented experience as a practicing aircraft mechanic (fixed wing or helicopter).
- A or P license may substitute for 18 months of experience each (for this job classification only).
- Must meet any additional qualification standards imposed by the government contract.
