United Pipeline Systems (United) is the global leader providing the installation of high performance thermoplastic internal pipeline lining systems offering corrosion and abrasion protection as part of client pipeline integrity programs. United has installed over 25,000 miles of our proprietary Tite Liner® system from 2 inch to 52 inch diameter pipelines for systems with operating pressures up to 7,500 psi. United provides our services to clients across the United States and has also worked in more than 30 countries worldwide.

Job Description

United Pipeline Systems, Inc. is seeking Commercial Drivers with a Class A CDL to join our installation crews. As a driver, you’ll play an essential role in safely transporting materials and equipment to and from job sites while operating company CMV vehicles in full compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. This is a travel-based position requiring extended time away from home while working on pipeline installation projects across the U.S. Once on the job site, our drivers transition into installation technicians. Typical months will have 20% driving and 80% hands on work on the job sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate company Class A CMV vehicles to safely transport materials, equipment, and crew to pipeline installation job sites.
  • Comply with all DOT/FMCSA regulations and company safety policies, including inspections, logs, and load securement.
  • Perform required pre- and post-trip inspections and report vehicle or equipment issues.
  • Travel extensively and remain on job sites for extended periods across the U.S.
  • Transition from driving duties into hands-on installation technician work upon arrival at job sites (approximately 20% driving / 80% field work).
  • Assist with pipeline installation activities, including material handling, equipment operation, and site setup.
  • Follow all job-site safety requirements, PPE standards, and work as part of a crew in oil & gas and mining environments.

Physical Demands

In the performance of duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to:

  • Sit, talk, and hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, occasionally required to stand, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and taste or smell.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 
  • Ability for extended concentration. 
  • Must be able to enter confirmed space and comply with safety policies.

Work Environment and Location

  • Home office location (s) Durango, CO and Farmington, NM
  • In performing the duties for this job, the employee will generally work in outside weather conditions (at job sites with moving vehicles and mechanical operations). 
  • Employee will travel by Automobile and/or airplane to job site locations and be away from home office for long periods of time to complete required installations.
  • This is a traveling role where you’ll spend extended periods on the road (typically 3–4 months at a time) supporting installation projects.
  • Average work week consists of 10 hours a day, 6 days a week. 
  • Company-provided lodging while traveling
  • $68 daily per diem for meals and incidentals.

Requirements

  • Class A or B Commercial Driver License with a good standing MVR
  • Pre-employment background check and MVR screening
  • Pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings
  • Must be 21 years of age to drive commercial vehicles across state lines
  • Minimum of two years' experience of verifiable driving experience after 21 years of age
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Preferred Experience

  • 6 months of Pipeline, oilfield, or general construction.
  • 6 months of heavy equipment operation.
  • 5 years of driving CMVs
  • International work/traveling experience is also a plus.

Education

  • High School diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Preferred candidates will have more education and work experience
