Summary:
The Cement Mason is responsible for placing, finishing, protecting, and repairing concrete surfaces on construction projects. This role requires physical endurance, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in demanding outdoor and jobsite environments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set forms, pour, spread, and finish concrete using hand tools, power tools, and finishing equipment,
- Smooth, level, and finish concrete surfaces using trowels, floats, screeds, and other tools,
- Apply curing or surface treatments to concrete,
- Patch, repair, and restore concrete surfaces as needed,
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work orders,
- Measure, mix, and pour concrete or related materials accurately,
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and clean condition,
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations,
- Work collaboratively with crew members, supervisors, and other trades,
- Must wear proper attire at all times including PPE,
- May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
- Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old,
- Must have a minimum of 3 years previous work experience as a cement mason,
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team,
- Must be able to determine the kind of tools and equipment need to do a job,
- High school diploma or GED desired,
- Must have a positive attitude and work ethic,
- Knowledge of concrete placement, finishing techniques, and materials,
- Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
Working Conditions:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds continuously throughout the workday,
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist, throughout the workday,
This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces,
This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time and the constant use of hands and arms,
This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (e.g., glasses, contact lenses),
Performing strenuous work for extended periods in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, and other inclement weather conditions,
Work may be performed in environments with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and moving equipment.
Note: This position is considered Safety-Sensitive, and therefore subject to various schedule and unscheduled screenings for controlled substances.
