About the Role:

Job Summary

The Director is responsible and accountable for the oversight of central scheduling, pre-admission, pre-registration, pre-certification, regulatory compliance and cash collections as it relates to the Patient Access Service Center. Also responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Patient Access Service Center. This position evaluates and analyzes operations of PASC to ensure compliance with organizational goals and objectives. Administratively responsible for budget oversight and assisting with strategic planning and system implementation.

Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications:

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree. In lieu of a Bachelors Degree, a minimum of ten (10) years Healthcare experience is required and a minimum of five (5) years Revenue Cycle management experience.

  • Minimum Experience: Bachelors Degree with five (5) years related experience. Call center management experience required.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for providing direction to the PASC Call Center; responsible for centralized scheduling, pre-certification, pre-registration, and insurance verification for OR, Cardiology, and all other Diagnostic Imaging/Radiology.

  • Continually seeks ways and means for improving the delivery, support, and quality of PASC activities and programs (specifically, centralized scheduling). This includes researching, recommending, and implementing various technology to support the primary functions of the department.

  • Provides oversight and recommendations of daily operations to PASC manager and supervisors to maintain high level of productivity and exceptional customer service.

  • Develops processes that are aligned with the strategic plans, goals, and objectives for the PASC Department and takes initiative to expedite accordingly to provide clear and favorable outcomes. This includes working with clinical modality leadership teams to ensure goals are parallel as it relates to centralized scheduling.

  • Owner of access into the health system; this includes ensuring the ease of access into the system as it relates to NGPG and community physician offices.

  • Responsible for recognizing process issues/opportunities and providing solid resolutions with measurable outcomes. This includes working collaboratively with clinical modalities to resolve scheduling issues quickly and efficiently.

  • Accountable for pre-certification related denials; this includes the management and improvement of these denials.

  • Responsible for working in conjunction with NGPG leadership to oversee physician office scheduling.

  • Serves as a firm link between the Patient Access Service Center and clinical service line management teams to promote a service-oriented culture that assures satisfaction with the quality and amount of support provided by PASC.

  • Responsible for meeting pre-service cash collection goals that are aligned with (and driven by) the system goals.

  • Acts as an internal "change agent" to gain company-wide understanding, appreciation and commitment to scheduling.

  • Incorporates the principles of total and continuous quality improvement while exceeding the expectations of the clinical service lines, patients, and physicians.

  • Reports Key Performance Indicators as it relates to PASC.

  • Collaborates with Revenue Cycle Quality Assurance and Training to assess quality of scheduling accuracy and pre-registration accuracy.

  • Provides leadership and mentoring to the manager and supervisors within PASC. Demonstrates ability to measure individual employee performance against criteria-based performance standards and uses evaluations as management tools and opportunities for coaching and developing staff.

  • Responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and monitoring all PASC visual management tools.

  • Serves as the expert in all PASC related functions to provide overall direction for the department.

  • Responsible and accountable for budget oversight as it relates to the PASC department.

  • Acts and leads in a manner that is reflective of the philosophy, vision and values of NGHS. Integrates these values throughout all initiatives and efforts.
