Job Description

Put Your Certification to Work Where Personalized Care Matters

Looking for a healthcare position where you can develop meaningful connections with the individuals you support?

The Arc of Ocean County is hiring Full-Time Certified Home Health Aides (CHHAs) to provide essential healthcare assistance and daily living support in our medical group homes located in Brick, New Jersey.

Our Residential Services programs support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who benefit from individualized healthcare assistance, consistent routines, and opportunities to strengthen their independence.

As a CHHA, you'll combine your healthcare training with hands-on residential support, working alongside nursing professionals and program leadership to help individuals remain healthy, comfortable, and actively involved in their everyday lives.

Employment Information

  • Position: Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA)
  • Location: Brick, NJ
  • Employment Status: Full-Time
  • Available Shifts: 7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
  • Starting Hourly Rate: $22.25
  • Pay Frequency: Bi-Weekly
  • Department: Residential Services
  • Employment Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt

What You'll Do

Deliver Individualized Healthcare Assistance

  • Work with nursing and residential personnel to address the ongoing medical and healthcare needs of individuals receiving services.
  • Assist in coordinating access to necessary healthcare appointments, treatments, and services, including dental, psychological, and pharmaceutical care.
  • Administer prescribed medications as required while adhering to established medication administration guidelines.
  • Participate in the monitoring and provision of clinical care under the direction of the LPN Medical Manager, Agency RN, and/or Residence Manager.
  • Carry out established treatment instructions involving medications, dietary restrictions, behavioral interventions, and adaptive equipment.
  • Identify and communicate changes in an individual's health, condition, or overall well-being to the appropriate team members.

Assist With Personal Care and Household Routines

  • Provide hands-on assistance with personal hygiene, grooming, and other activities of daily living.
  • Support individuals with preparing meals, completing laundry, maintaining living spaces, shopping, and managing everyday responsibilities.
  • Encourage participation in daily activities rather than completing tasks for individuals whenever they can safely participate themselves.
  • Provide appropriate supervision and assistance based on each person's individual needs and abilities.
  • Maintain a supportive atmosphere that promotes comfort, dignity, and personal choice.

Promote Skill Development and Community Participation

  • Implement supports outlined in each individual's Individual Habilitation Plan.
  • Help individuals practice skills related to personal care, household responsibilities, communication, and social interaction.
  • Reinforce established goals and provide encouragement as individuals develop greater independence.
  • Facilitate participation in recreational opportunities, social activities, and community experiences.
  • Support individuals in the least restrictive environment appropriate to their needs.

Contribute to Residential Safety and Program Quality

  • Help maintain medical group homes that are sanitary, organized, secure, accessible, and comfortable.
  • Perform assigned household duties and notify management of maintenance or repair concerns.
  • Follow applicable agency procedures, health and safety requirements, and confidentiality standards.
  • Respect and protect the rights, privacy, and personal freedoms of individuals receiving services.
  • Assist in maintaining an environment that supports both individual well-being and safe residential operations.

Maintain Accurate Records and Team Communication

  • Prepare required service documentation, medical records, daily reports, communication logs, and training records.
  • Record individual progress and participation in accordance with established program expectations.
  • Promptly report incidents and other significant concerns through appropriate agency procedures.
  • Exchange relevant information with nursing staff, supervisors, families, guardians, healthcare providers, and other authorized individuals.
  • Work cooperatively with Residential Services employees to support consistent, coordinated care.

A Healthcare Career With a Personal Connection

Unlike positions centered on brief visits or individual appointments, this opportunity allows you to provide ongoing assistance within a residential program.

You'll become familiar with the individuals receiving services, learn their routines and preferences, and contribute to their health and quality of life over time.

Your CHHA certification will be an important part of your work, but so will your ability to encourage independence, recognize individual accomplishments, and provide compassionate support.
