Certified Medication Aide - Long Term CareJob SummaryAdministers routine medications to residents in a long-term care setting under the supervision of a licensed nurse. Observes residents for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions and reports findings to the charge nurse. Maintains accurate medication administration records and supports residents with personal care as assigned.Education & Experience• High School Diploma or equivalent: Required• Prior experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting: PreferredLicenses & Certifications• Certified Medication Aide certification in the state of practice: Required• Certified Nursing Assistant certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification: RequiredKey Responsibilities• Administer routine oral, topical and other non-injectable medications per physician orders.• Verify medication, dose, route, time and resident identity prior to each administration.• Observe residents for therapeutic response and adverse reactions and report to the charge nurse.• Document medication administration accurately in the medication administration record.• Assist with medication cart management, ordering and storage in accordance with policy.• Provide direct resident care and support activities of daily living as assigned.
