As a Certified Nursing Assistant, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:

  • Care for the personal care and hygiene needs of clients in their homes (One on one care)
  • Help with daily needs (ADLs) such as bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, eating and nutritional intake
  • Assist with ambulation, transfers and range of motion exercises
  • Check vitals, measure intake/output, monitor blood glucose and document any changes
  • Observe patient and notify supervisor of issues requiring a change in care, medication or equipment

A few must-haves for Certified Nursing Assistants:

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license
  • CNAs with a GNA certification preferred
  • CPR certification 
  • Knowledge of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations
  • Compassionate nature, good communicator and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
