As a Home Health Certified Nursing Assistant, here's a big-picture view of what you'll do:
Provide compassionate in-home care to seniors and individuals with illnesses, injuries, chronic conditions, and disabilities.
Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, hygiene, feeding, and nutritional support.
Assist with ambulation, transfers, repositioning, and range of motion exercises.
Monitor and report changes in the patient's condition to the supervising nurse.
Check vital signs, monitor intake and output, and document care accurately.
Follow individualized care plans while collaborating with nurses and the healthcare team.
Provide care for patients with complex neurological and mobility conditions, including:
Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Quadriplegia
Spinal cord injuries
Parkinson's disease
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
Assist with bowel programs and other specialized personal care needs while maintaining patient dignity, comfort, and safety.
Safely utilize gait belts, Hoyer lifts, transfer devices such as sliding boards, and proper body mechanics when assisting patients.
A few must-haves for Home Health Certified Nursing Assistants:
- Minimum of one (1) year of professional caregiving or CNA experience required. Home health experience preferred.
- Active Texas Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
- Experience caring for patients with neurological disorders, spinal cord injuries, bowel programs, and complex mobility needs is strongly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR certification
- Valid Texas driver's license, auto insurance, and transportation
- Compassionate nature, good communicator, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
