Position Summary:Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), provide care to patients, under the supervision of registered nurses, by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitoring patient vital signs, reporting any changes in condition, performing EKGs, applying durable medical equipment, stocking supplies, charting in the electronic health record (EHR) and maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients. Position Requirements

Education: High School Education or GED required.

Licensure: Registered with the State of Nebraska as CNA required.

Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Experience:

  • 1+ year customer service work preferred, in a health care setting required.
  • Prior Nurse Assistant experience preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred and the ability to demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, critical thinking for quick decision making, and detail oriented while maintaining a calm bedside manner.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support patients as well as team members.
  • Ability to flex and meet departmental needs when required.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform basic patient care functions by complying with established protocols, policies, procedures and standards based on individual patient needs under the direction of licensed nursing personnel to ensure quality patient care
  • Interact with patients and other health care professionals utilizing appropriate communication skills so that efficiency, productivity, and quality of care are enhanced.
  • Perform clerical tasks and patient registration activities to ensure efficient workflow in the unit.
  • Must be able to work from detailed verbal or written instructions and use judgment for routine situations.
  • Maintain patient medical records by following correct procedures to ensure accurate and timely availability of patient information while protecting sensitive patient information.
  • Perform supply inventory tasks to ensure successful operation of the unit.
  • Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
  • Employee is responsible for all other duties assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.

Physical requirements: This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
