Position Summary:Extended Recovery Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). In this position, you will provide essential support to registered nurses by providing high-quality patient care to post op orthopedic patients. Your role includes encouraging early, frequent mobilization, assisting with activities of daily living, providing emotional support, and ensuring patient safety throughout their journey to recovery. Two (2) 12-Hour shifts 6:45a - 7:15p + built in weekends/holidays

Position Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.

Licensure: Registered with the State of Nebraska as CNA required.

Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Experience:

  • Prior Nurse Assistant experience preferred.
  • 1+ year customer service work in a health care setting preferred.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology preferred and the ability to demonstrate effective communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and critically think
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Understanding of infection control protocols and patient care techniques
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow verbal or written instructions. Uses judgment for routine situations
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform basic patient care functions by complying with established protocols, policies, procedures, and standards based on individual patient needs under the direction of licensed nursing personnel to ensure quality patient care
  • Function as a team member by demonstrating initiative and flexibility in the completion of workload to provide high-quality, efficient patient care.
  • Interact with patients and other health care professionals utilizing appropriate communication skills so that efficiency, productivity, and quality of care are enhanced.
  • Perform clerical tasks and patient registration activities to ensure efficient workflow in the unit.
  • Must be able to work from detailed verbal or written instructions and use judgment for routine situations.
  • Maintain patient medical records by following correct procedures to ensure accurate and timely availability of patient information.
  • Comply with safety activities, policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
  • Participating in teaching, orienting and guiding other employees by sharing knowledge and master skills.
  • Able to communicate effectively to solve problems in routine situations.
  • Must have patience, self-confidence, maturity, compassion and always remain a team player
  • Employee is responsible for all other duties assigned for which competency has been demonstrated. 

Physical requirements: This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements exceed those for Light Work.

Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
