Job Description
What You'll Do:
- Assists pharmacist in preparing drugs for dispensing (e.g. appropriate product selection, labeling, compounding, and repackaging with completion of appropriate records, etc.);
- maintains an accurate computer profile for each patient receiving medications within the institution according to department and hospital policies and procedures.
- Prepares drugs for automated dispensing to be checked by a pharmacist, restocks automated dispensing equipment, assists with monitoring automated dispensing equipment and maintaining this equipment in good working order.
- Prepares intravenous admixtures, irrigation solutions, parenteral nutrition solutions, and other sterile products under the direction and supervision of a pharmacist.
What You'll Bring/Requirements:
- Completion of high school education, or equivalent
- Passing score on the Certificated Pharmacy Technician examination offered by the Academy of Pharmacy Technicians, or equivalent.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to relate to other people and work well in a group environment.
- Demonstrates effective aseptic technique required to prepare sterile preparations.
- Demonstrates training, knowledge, experience, skills, and techniques required for the safe handling and accurate preparation/compounding of chemotherapy medications.
- Must maintain certification with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board; Basic Life Support recommended.
