Chemical Technician 3

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Chemical Technician to fill a one-year assignment in the Billingsley, AL area. This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary. Date: 02/11/2025 Job Title: Chemical Technician Work Location:  Billingsley, AL  Requirements:Required PPE: Hard hat, Steel toe/Safety toe boots, Safety glasses, Full face respirator, Hearing protection Qualifications:

• BS degree in Chemistry or other field of science with a MINIMUM of 12 semester hours in Chemistry required. *
• Certified Chemical Technician (CCT) credential *
• Certified Laboratory Safety Professional (CLSP) credential *
• Experience and competency in the use, calibration and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation/equipment*
• Knowledge of proper analytical methods and techniques

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Prior experience and knowledge of boiler/water analysis preferred. *
• Previous work experience in a water treatment plant preferred. *
• Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred. *
• Familiarity with mechanical parts and repair is preferred. *
• Knowledge and experience in production of deionized water is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tracking inventory*
• Prioritizing orders*
• Maintaining lab equipment*
• Documenting the processes during each chemical test *
• Following environmental regulations *
• Reviewing newly published safety protocols from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFRA) *
• Preparing chemical solutions*
• Completing chemical orders *
• Storing solutions safely according to different temperature requirements *
• Conducting lab tests to ensure that chemicals are safe to use*
• Recording and troubleshooting issues for further assessment *
• Compiling and interpreting lab test results*
• Correcting potential anomalies in results *
• Monitoring chemical processes and resolving production issues by meeting with the appropriate personnel *
• Producing and retrieving graphical results to share with lab managers or more senior personnel *
• Sterilizing work surfaces and equipment before using them *
• Replacing worn or damaged equipment as needed *
• Training new technicians on different chemical processes and periodically updating their knowledge of chemical technology
