Description: | Under the general direction of the Community Development Director, oversees and directs the activities, programs, and personnel of the Building Division, including plan review, inspections, permitting, and code enforcement. This is a supervisory role reporting directly to the Community Development Director. |

Qualifications: | Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Must meet Utah statutory requirements for Building Officials, including:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of building inspection practices; International Building Codes and related regulations; plan review and inspection techniques; construction methods and materials; and principles of municipal administration. Skill in interpreting complex plans and codes, managing projects and priorities, researching technical regulations, supervising staff, and resolving disputes among parties with competing interests. Ability to manage division programs and personnel; exercise sound independent judgment; communicate complex technical information clearly in writing and verbally; prepare accurate reports and documentation; organize work efficiently; meet deadlines; resolve operational issues; and maintain effective working relationships with the public, staff, developers, boards, and elected officials while providing high levels of customer service. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of required physical examinations and drug testing. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Computer, calculators, telephone, office and business inspection-related software, motor vehicle. |
Physical Demands: | Work is performed mostly in office settings. Some outdoor work is required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach; climb and balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Non-traditional work hours may occasionally be required during peak construction periods. |
