This executive role reports directly to the Board, independent of the CEO, to ensure full compliance autonomy and integritWhy join us?High‑Impact Leadership: Lead the creation of a best‑in‑class compliance program for a high‑growth healthcare organization.Strategic Influence: Serve as the organization’s senior authority on regulatory, legal, and ethical compliance.Growth Environment: Join a company scaling nationally through acquisitions and operational expansion.Strong Compensation: Competitive base salary, bonus, and equity options with significant upside potential.Full Benefits: 401(k) with match, healthcare coverage, and unlimited PTO.Job DetailsBuild & Lead the Compliance FunctionDevelop, initiate, and maintain a comprehensive corporate compliance program tailored to a multi‑state healthcare environment.Build the compliance department from scratch, including staffing, policy infrastructure, and reporting structures.Regulatory & Legal Compliance OversightEnsure organizational adherence to federal and state healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, CMS requirements, Stark Law, Anti‑Kickback Statute, and other applicable laws. Monitor regulatory changes and guide leadership on required operational adjustments.Auditing, Monitoring & Risk ManagementConduct ongoing internal audits, compliance assessments, and risk analyses to identify vulnerabilities across clinical, billing, privacy, and operational workflows. Develop corrective action plans and oversee implementation to ensure long‑term mitigation of identified risks.Training & Culture DevelopmentLead compliance education programs for all employees, including new‑hire onboarding, role‑based training, and Board‑level sessions. [Champion a culture of ethics, transparency, and regulatory excellence across the organization.Incident Investigation & ReportingOversee investigations of alleged violations, improper conduct, or breaches of compliance policies; recommend and implement corrective actions. Maintain confidential reporting channels and ensure compliance with whistleblower protections. Report regularly to the Board on compliance performance, risks, and remediation progress.Cross‑Functional & Board CollaborationPartner with clinical, legal, operations, HR, and IT leadership to resolve compliance issues efficiently. Serve as a direct advisor to the Board of Directors regarding compliance status and organizational obligations.Skills & Experience You NeedMust‑Have QualificationsPublic company experience AND healthcare industry experienceExtensive leadership experience in compliance within a regulated healthcare environment.Proven ability to develop and manage enterprise‑wide compliance programs.Deep working knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations (HIPAA, HITECH, CMS, OIG guidance, Stark, AKS, etc.).Preferred QualificationsLaw degree (JD) Compliance certifications such as CHC, CCEP, or similar, Experience reporting to or working closely with a Board of Directors.Experience building compliance functions during periods of organizational growth or acquisition.Key CompetenciesExceptional ethical judgment and professional integrity.Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with staff at all levels—including clinical teams and Board leadership.
