Job Description

Title: Chief Data Officer Data Governance & StrategyOffice Status: Hybrid New York, NYBase Salary: $150k $280k (flexible based on experience) + BonusOverview: This is a C-suite opportunity at a well-established financial institution, offering full ownership of the enterprise data governance and data quality function across all lines of business. The Chief Data Officer will set the vision, build out the data governance infrastructure, and serve as the senior-most data leader interfacing with executive management, business departments, finance, risk, operations, technology, and external regulators. It's a rare build-and-lead mandate for a seasoned data executive who combines strategic vision with hands-on execution capability and thrives in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment within a regulated banking institution.Key Responsibilities:
  • Define, maintain, and evolve the enterprise data management strategy, ensuring continuous alignment with organizational business requirements and regulatory expectations
  • Build and lead the data governance function end-to-end, including organizational accountability, data quality, standards and procedures, record retention, quality control, monitoring, and measurement of progress
  • Serve as the senior data advisor to executive management and all lines of business, communicating the impact of data availability, integrity, and completeness on core business processes
  • Implement the data governance framework including data controls, policies and standards, quality control, and incident and problem management disciplines with clearly defined SLAs
  • Oversee data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage initiatives across the enterprise
  • Partner with technology teams to establish joint business-technology practices;ensure end-to-end project management and solution implementation across data infrastructure initiatives
  • Manage vendor relationships related to data sourcing and procurement;ensure contractual obligations are honored and policies protect the organization
  • Oversee IT Risk data management as it pertains to data-related controls and ensure internal controls comply with corporate governance standards
  • Develop, monitor, and report on data quality metrics;ensure data inconsistencies and errors are identified and resolved quickly
  • Manage costs, budgets, forecasts, and business plans aligned with the organization's data strategy objectives while eliminating redundancy
  • Build, develop, and lead a team of experienced data management professionals;establish clear expectations, foster a culture of risk compliance and collaboration, and manage individual and department objectives aligned with organizational goals
  • Represent data management during business planning, data architecture projects, and cross-functional change initiatives;interface with headquarters and external regulatory bodies as needed
