Your role as a Chief Financial Officer
As the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Girl Scouts of Eastern IA and Western IL, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the organization's financial strategy, ensuring sustainable practices that align with our mission. This leadership position involves overseeing all financial operations, from planning and reporting to stewardship that drives long-term organizational health. Collaborating closely with the CEO and executive leadership team, you will help develop strategic financial plans that reflect our commitment to operational excellence.
Additionally, you will serve as the primary staff liaison to the Board’s Finance and Audit Committees, reinforcing transparency and sound risk management across the Council. Your expertise in finance and accounting will be crucial in guiding our efforts to empower young girls while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and customer-centricity throughout the organization.
Requirements for this Chief Financial Officer job
To thrive as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at the Girl Scouts of Eastern IA and Western IL, candidates must possess a robust set of skills and qualifications. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, enabling effective collaboration with the executive team and Board of Directors. Candidates should demonstrate exceptional strategic planning, problem-solving, and project management abilities, with a keen attention to detail that supports data-driven decision-making. A flexible schedule is required, as this role may involve occasional evenings and weekends, along with travel within the Council’s service area. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is mandatory, with a CPA preferred.
Candidates should have at least 8 years of relevant experience, including 4 years in a leadership capacity, as well as audit experience and familiarity with managing operating budgets exceeding $5 million. Nonprofit or fund accounting experience is a plus, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook. Strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment are vital for success.
