Chief Operating Officer
Iberia Medical Center (IMC) in New Iberia, LA is looking for team members who will help advance our vision to be the premier hospital of choice for patients, physicians, and employees. IMC is looking to add a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to our Administrative team on an Exempt basis. The COO provides leadership and oversight of hospital operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective healthcare services. This position collaborates with the CEO, CFO, CNO and CMO to implement strategic initiatives, optimize operational performance, and support organizational growth. The COO also serves as a liaison for the Medical Staff matters related to the operations and growth of organization and assists in supplementing the efforts of the Medical Staff in coordination with Chief Medical Officer(CMO), as needed, in matters related to the safe and proper treatment of all patients.
Education/Training/Experience:
Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field required.
Minimum seven (7) years of hospital system experience, including at least five (5) years in progressive leadership roles. managing multiple departments preferred.
Strong knowledge of healthcare operations, finance, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and strategic planning.
Familiarity with hospital facilities, infrastructure, and project management is preferred.
Proven leadership, human resource management, and relationship-building skills.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities:
Provide executive oversight of hospital operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and alignment with strategic goals.
Direct oversight of clinical and support services, including Rehab, Cardiopulmonary, Environmental Services, Facilities, Laboratory, Wound Care, Sleep Lab, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Radiology, Security, and Environment of Care.
Partner with CEO and CFO on strategic, operational, and financial planning, including budgets and capital projects.
Lead initiatives to optimize performance, expand service lines, and implement technology-driven solutions.
Collaborate with CMO and Medical Staff to support clinical operations, process standardization, and quality improvement.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting bodies such as The Joint Commission.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external partners, the community, and medical staff to advance IMC’s mission.
Oversee human resources strategies, workforce planning, employee engagement, recruitment, and retention.
Monitor operational and financial performance, implementing corrective or efficiency measures as needed.
Participate in Board, committee, and Medical Staff meetings, providing updates on operations and strategic initiatives.
Serve on-call for administrative matters, emergencies, and hospital events as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by the CEO.
