Job Description:

As Chief Product Security Officer, you will steer the global product security strategy that safeguards the digital backbone of the power industry—spanning Embedded Systems, Industrial Control Systems (ICS), and SaaS offerings that support modern, data-enabled grid operations. You will set a unified vision and framework for security by design across the full product lifecycle, partnering with engineering, product, and regional teams to build resilient products that customers trust.

Your work will help protect operational technology and digital platforms that underpin reliability, safety, and performance in grid environments, while supporting innovation and modernization goals such as secure AI enablement and robust vulnerability management. In this role, you will engage directly with customers and industry stakeholders, coordinate global incident response for product lines, and champion security practices that are practical for high-availability systems. You will strengthen how we architect, build, validate, deploy, and maintain products—so that utilities and power-sector customers can operate confidently, adapt to evolving threats, and progress their digitalization aims. You will grow teams, elevate security awareness, and represent Hitachi Energy’s cybersecurity leadership within the power ecosystem.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Establish and communicate a shared vision for product security excellence across Embedded, ICS, and SaaS portfolios.
  • Develop and operationalize a unified product security strategy across regions and business lines.
  • Embed security by design through the entire product lifecycle—from concept and development to deployment, maintenance, and retirement.
  • Coordinate global product incident response and vulnerability management to reduce risk and accelerate remediation.
  • Engage with customers and industry stakeholders to address security concerns and build lasting partnerships.
  • Mentor and develop internal teams to elevate technical rigor and a culture of security awareness.
  • Represent the organization at forums, conferences, and thought leadership events to advance our stance in the market.
  • Raise awareness and educate product stakeholders on integrating security at the design stage to support reliability and safety outcomes.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

  • Demonstrated success in leadership within a complex global organization.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in product security roles, including global team management.
  • Extensive experience leading security initiatives for Embedded and/or Industrial Control Systems in a global context.
  • Demonstrated expertise securing SaaS offerings across architecture, deployment, and ongoing operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of AI deployment in new and existing products, including security guardrails, testing, and deployment best practices.
  • Proven track record building and scaling product security programs in complex, multinational environments.
  • Direct experience collaborating with customers to understand requirements and deliver tailored security solutions.
  • Strong R&D background with deep understanding of the product lifecycle and integrating security into development processes.
  • Recognized thought leadership in product security (e.g., publications, speaking engagements, industry accolades).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CSSLP) strongly preferred.
