POSITIONCHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICERSUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) oversees the credit union’s Information Technology (IT) and drives organizational vision and strategy to ensure Strategic Business Plan outcomes are met. This position reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer with responsibility for leading and directing the credit union’s IT personnel, systems, infrastructure, networking, policies and practices to support business goals, improve efficiency, enhance member services, and facilitate technology use for all credit union employees. This position plays an integral role on the Executive Team to ensure that strategic objectives, goals, and institutional growth are achieved and in accordance with policies of the Board of Directors, corporate charter, and government regulations. - Coordinates with other Executive Team Members to integrate technology into business functions.
- Leads communication and reporting activities between departments and branch offices to ensure availability of technology and data required for efficient daily operations.
- Oversees Information Technology and partners with the Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to budget for sufficient investments and to achieve growth targets as outlined in the Strategic Business Plan.
- Diagnoses problems quickly and shows foresight into potential issues and strategies to resolve those issues.
- Provides strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of technology systems for the credit union.
- Ensures the continuous availability and responsiveness of financial and administrative systems to effectively operate.
- Drives digital transformation, cybersecurity governance, and data strategy to support business goals and maintain a competitive edge.
- Recommends process improvements by evaluating operations with technology needs and vice versa.
- Creates reports to evaluate key aspects of credit union performance to drive strategies and determine needed technology changes.
- Communicates information on the technology activities of the credit union to State and Federal agencies, credit union management, and Board of Directors.
- Evaluates all factors, performs appropriate cost/benefit analyses, and accounts for acceptable risks in recommending technology investments.
- Serves as a representative in professional, business, and community organizations to promote credit union services.
- Communicates areas of accountability and performance expected of IT personnel.
- Determines standards of performance as a basis to review IT employees’ progress.
- Recommends IT employees’ salary adjustments, promotions, and dismissals.
- Makes decisions in accordance with government laws and regulations.
- Attends credit union chapter events and other credit union related functions.
- Analyzes and complies with government laws and regulations. This includes maintaining knowledge of all applicable regulations and laws and keeping abreast of updates and changes to legislation, industry best practices and regulatory guidelines such as BSA/OFAC/AML/CTR laws, rules, and regulations.
- Experience utilizing, evaluating, and upgrading a financial institution’s core data processing platform and facilitating core integrations with multiple third-party systems.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from business partners, regulatory agencies, and credit union members. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) including application of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Accounting software; Internet software and Database software.
