Child & Family Therapist - Delaware County

Joseph J. Peters Institute (JJPI) seeks a Child and Family Therapist (Clinician). This position will be located at Family Support Line (FSL) in Media, PA, and will work closely with FSL and Delaware County Child Advocacy Center (DCCAC) staff. This employee will complete referrals, complete intake evaluations, and provide therapy, primarily for children but also for some families and adults. Therapy will be provided in the clinic setting at least in part through employing two evidence-based therapies, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Problem Sexual Behavior Cognitive Behavior Therapy (PSB-CBT), to school-age children who have experienced problem sexual behavior. The Clinician may also be asked to work offsite at schools to provide trauma-focused treatment in groups using CBITS and to potentially screen children referred to JJPI for problem sexual behavior occurring in the school setting. This employee will be responsible for recordkeeping in alignment with grant requirements for this position and will be expected to submit grant-related documentation in a timely manner. This is a full-time position.

PROGRAM: Delaware County Healing & Resolving Trauma (DelcoHART)

Note: This is a grant-funded position. Continued employment is dependent on available funding. Should funding for this position conclude, JJPI will consider the employee for opportunities in other JJPI programs based on organizational needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain the highest quality clinical services to all participants of JJPI in Delaware County.

• Conduct evaluations of referred participants.

• Interview participants and other parties involved in a participant's care.

• Administer psychometric measures at intake and during the course of therapy and interpret results.

• Provide consultation and individual therapy for participants who meet criteria for treatment using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Problem Sexual Behavior Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS).

• Complete school screening evaluations of children exhibiting problematic sexual behavior (PSB) in local schools. Provide recommendations to parents/caregivers and school staff regarding immediate and long-term interventions for evaluated students.

• Work closely with staff from partner organizations FSL and DCCAC.

• Provide informal clinical consultation to FSL/DCCAC staff.

• Serve on treatment/staffing/consultation teams with FSL/DCCAC staff as needed.

• Participate in case management activities that support participants' paths towards healing and recovery as needed.

• Attend clinical meetings and scheduled supervisions.

• Develop and maintain professional relationships with other community agencies and organizations.

• Make initial contact with participants within two business days of assignment.

• Maintain clinical records and complete paperwork in accordance with agency and grant requirements according to the following guidelines:

• Complete an initial treatment plan within the first two visits of participant contact.

• Complete updated treatment plans as needed and at a minimum once every 180 days.

• Complete clinical progress notes within two days of each session with a participant.

• Complete case management progress notes within five days of activity.

• Follow up appropriately with participants who have missed a session and continue appropriate outreach.

• Complete discharge summary within 48 hours of termination date.

• Complete and submit utilization reports (case management and clinical hours) at the end of each week.

• Maintain compliance with guidelines and requirements of various funders.

• Work effectively with other staff and contribute to the development of a team approach to treatment.

• Complete grant-related documentation, including the collection and submission of data and narrative descriptions of services provided as well as a summary of outcome measures.

• Understand and communicate with other programs within JJPI and PHMC and work to foster a collaborative team approach across all programs.

• Promote the agency in interactions with other agencies and professionals.

• Bilingual in Spanish/English and/or other languages is a plus

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master's degree from an accredited program in a clinical field (e.g., clinical psychology, mental health counseling) required
• Must have at least two years of clinical experience with populations served, including individuals who have experienced childhood sexual abuse (CSA) and/or other traumas
• Preferred: Independent practice license, license eligible, or actively working towards clinical licensure
• Preferred: Experience with TF-CBT, PSB-CBT, and CBITS (training will be provided if not trained)
