Child Care Associate Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:

Supports the work of Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Builds members and the community’s understanding of the YMCA’s impact.  

This position creates a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Under the supervision of the Lead Teacher and Director, the Associate Teacher provides direction for the program and classroom and implements the program curriculum. Provides quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Builds personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests. While exemplifying Y’s commitment to the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility and responding to all member and community inquiries in a timely manner. 
2. Dependable and build consistency and stability in the classroom for the children in your care. Full-time dependability is crucial to this role. 
3. Implements of curriculum within the established guidelines.  
4. Assists with designing and implementing daily lesson/activity plans.  
5. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.  
6. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.  
7. Conducts parent conferences with the Lead Teacher and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.  
8. Maintains program site and equipment.  
9. Maintains required program records.  
10. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training (18 hours per year) 
11. Fulfills any functions?appointed?by the YMCA administration. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Meets educational and experience qualifications established by childcare licensing.  
2. At least 18 years of age.  
3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.  
4. Health form completed within 30 days of hire date.  
5. At least 1 year of experience working with children in a developmental setting.  
6. Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.  
7. Three+ years of experience working in a licensed childcare facility highly preferred. 

Compensation details: 13.6-20.41 Hourly Wage
