This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the musical and spiritual life of the School through both formal instruction and community-wide programming. This is a 1 year position starting in August, 2026 and running through May, 2027. 

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Arts Department and working closely with the Chaplaincy, the Choir Director and Chapel Music Coordinator leads choral programming and supports the musical life of the School.

You will:

  • Teach one section of choir, fostering vocal technique, musicality, and ensemble skills
  • Prepare students for performances throughout the year, including concerts and special events such as Family Weekend and Lessons and Carols
  • Collaborate with the Chaplains to support and enhance the Chapel program through thoughtful musical leadership
  • Facilitate community singing during regular and evening chapel services
  • Organize and prepare the choir to perform in monthly evening chapel services
  • Support students in preparing for District and All-State music opportunities
  • Serve as a faculty advisor and mentor for student-led a cappella groups
  • Lead the planning and execution of the annual WICK A Cappella Festival
  • Contribute creatively to the musical and cultural life of the School through performances, events, and collaborations with students and faculty

  • Demonstrate a passion for choral music and community-centered musical experiences
  • Bring experience as a musician, educator, and program leader
  • Exhibit the ability to work effectively with high school students in both instructional and extracurricular settings
  • Show a commitment to inclusive pedagogy and the ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds
  • Collaborate enthusiastically with colleagues across departments, especially within the Arts and Chaplaincy
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills in managing performances, events, and student groups
  • Bring energy, creativity, and flexibility to a dynamic school environment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in music or a related field
  • Experience as a professional musician, educator, or administrator
  • Experience working in an educational setting, preferably with high school students
  • Experience directing or managing concerts, festivals, or school events

Preferred:

  • Experience with chapel or church music programs
  • Ability to play the organ is a plus

Salary Range

$12,000–$18,000, commensurate with experience.
