Job Description

The CIM Program Manager leads the firmwide strategy, standards, implementation, and support of horizontal design technologies and workflows. This role oversees technology used across civil, transportation, infrastructure, and related disciplines, including platforms such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley/MicroStation, and other horizontal design and coordination tools. The CIM Program Manager manages and supports CIM Managers, Transportation Technology Managers, and other technical leads responsible for specific platforms or disciplines. The role does not require expert-level knowledge of every supported platform, but must have a strong understanding of civil design technology, digital production workflows, and the ability to lead technical staff across multiple disciplines and software environments. The CIM Program Manager works closely with Practice Technology leadership, project teams, operations, IT, and discipline leadership to establish standards, improve workflows, support project delivery, and guide the continued development of horizontal design technology across the firm.

Duties

  • Program Leadership & Management
  • Lead the firm's CIM and horizontal design technology program across disciplines and offices.
  • Manage and provide direction to CIM Managers, Transportation Technology Managers, and other technical leads.
  • Establish program priorities, work plans, and technology initiatives in coordination with Practice Technology leadership.
  • Coordinate technology needs across civil, transportation, infrastructure, and other horizontal design groups.
  • Support the development and growth of technical staff within the CIM program.
  • Track program needs, implementation progress, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Standards & Quality
  • Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of firmwide CAD and civil design standards.
  • Oversee standards for templates, title blocks, layers, naming conventions, model organization, sheet organization, and project file structures.
  • Coordinate standards across Autodesk, Bentley, and other design environments where appropriate. Support quality control processes and consistent application of standards across project teams.
  • Identify workflow inconsistencies and lead efforts to improve standardization and efficiency.
  • Software & Technology
  • Provide oversight of horizontal design technology platforms, including Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Bentley/MicroStation, and related applications.
  • Work with technical managers and subject matter experts to evaluate software, workflows, integrations, and emerging technologies.
  • Coordinate software deployment, configuration, licensing, upgrades, and support needs with IT and other internal teams.
  • Support shared project environments including Autodesk Construction Cloud, ProjectWise, and other collaboration platforms.
  • Help establish a roadmap for the continued development and adoption of horizontal design technologies.
  • Training & User Support
  • Oversee training and knowledge-sharing efforts related to CIM standards, software, and workflows.
  • Work with technical managers to develop training materials, reference guides, and documented procedures.
  • Support onboarding and development of staff working within civil and transportation design environments.
  • Promote consistent adoption of standards, tools, and best practices across the firm.
  • Help identify recurring support needs and develop scalable solutions rather than relying solely on project-by-project support.
  • Project & Practice Support
  • Support project teams with technology planning, project setup, standards, and workflow development.
  • Assist with resolving complex production or technology issues that require coordination across disciplines or software platforms.
  • Work with project and discipline leadership to understand evolving technology needs.
  • Support major projects or strategic initiatives where advanced CIM coordination or technology planning is required.
  • Maintain awareness of project delivery needs while balancing broader firmwide standards and technology objectives.
