Job Description
PGS Worldwide is seeking a Circuit Design Engineer in Orlando, FL for a one year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This hybrid role supports mission-critical power electronics for advanced defense systems through schematic capture, EPCAD layout, and full-cycle Design Assurance for high-reliability circuit card assemblies. The position owns end-to-end design from initial concept through layout, verification, and release.
Required Skills
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience
- Experience developing and refining system requirements, including performance, interface, and environmental specifications
- Proven experience in circuit card design, integration, and testing for power electronics
- Proficiency with Siemens Xpedition Enterprise or an equivalent schematic capture tool
- Ability to own end-to-end design from initial concept through layout, verification, and release
- Ability to coordinate with mechanical, software, and test engineering teams
- Ability to generate complete design data packages for Design Assurance review and release
Preferred Skills
- Experience with system power design and power distribution architecture
- Knowledge of EMI grounding and isolation techniques
- Familiarity with Design Assurance processes
- Experience using EPCAD for layout and signal routing
- Understanding of environmental qualification testing, including shock and vibration, for electronic assemblies
- Ability to conduct trade studies and produce architecture diagrams and requirements packages
What You’ll Do
- Capture schematics and produce EPCAD layouts using Siemens Xpedition Enterprise
- Apply best-practice routing, signal integrity, and EMI mitigation techniques
- Develop power distribution circuit card assemblies that meet performance, thermal, and reliability targets
- Define, document, and trace system performance, interface, and environmental requirements throughout the design lifecycle
- Conduct trade-off studies to select components, architectures, and manufacturing processes
- Generate design data packages including bills of materials, drawings, test plans, and verification results
- Coordinate with mechanical, software, and test teams to align design, procurement, and testing schedules
- Provide evidence and documentation for each Design Assurance gate
- Mentor junior engineers and support a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence
Work Schedule / Shift
- Hybrid schedule with core days in office on Tuesday and Wednesday
- Flex work-from-home days may be Monday or Thursday, dependent on program needs
- Required to be on site 3 days per week
