Circuit Design Engineer

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Circuit Design Engineer in Orlando, FL for a one year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This hybrid role supports mission-critical power electronics for advanced defense systems through schematic capture, EPCAD layout, and full-cycle Design Assurance for high-reliability circuit card assemblies. The position owns end-to-end design from initial concept through layout, verification, and release.

Required Skills

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience
• Experience developing and refining system requirements, including performance, interface, and environmental specifications
• Proven experience in circuit card design, integration, and testing for power electronics
• Proficiency with Siemens Xpedition Enterprise or an equivalent schematic capture tool
• Ability to own end-to-end design from initial concept through layout, verification, and release
• Ability to coordinate with mechanical, software, and test engineering teams
• Ability to generate complete design data packages for Design Assurance review and release

Preferred Skills

• Experience with system power design and power distribution architecture
• Knowledge of EMI grounding and isolation techniques
• Familiarity with Design Assurance processes
• Experience using EPCAD for layout and signal routing
• Understanding of environmental qualification testing, including shock and vibration, for electronic assemblies
• Ability to conduct trade studies and produce architecture diagrams and requirements packages

What You’ll Do

• Capture schematics and produce EPCAD layouts using Siemens Xpedition Enterprise
• Apply best-practice routing, signal integrity, and EMI mitigation techniques
• Develop power distribution circuit card assemblies that meet performance, thermal, and reliability targets
• Define, document, and trace system performance, interface, and environmental requirements throughout the design lifecycle
• Conduct trade-off studies to select components, architectures, and manufacturing processes
• Generate design data packages including bills of materials, drawings, test plans, and verification results
• Coordinate with mechanical, software, and test teams to align design, procurement, and testing schedules
• Provide evidence and documentation for each Design Assurance gate
• Mentor junior engineers and support a collaborative environment focused on technical excellence

Work Schedule / Shift

• Hybrid schedule with core days in office on Tuesday and Wednesday
• Flex work-from-home days may be Monday or Thursday, dependent on program needs
• Required to be on site 3 days per week
