Civil Drafter-Federal

Location: Overland Park, KS (Onsite 5 days/week)

Employment Type: Temp‑to‑Perm

Pay: $45/hr

COMPANY is seeking a Civil Staff Engineering Technician to support mission‑critical federal infrastructure projects. This role contributes to secure, resilient civil site development that supports high‑consequence federal missions. The position sits within the Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) team and focuses on producing and modifying civil engineering drawings and models using Autodesk Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

Support engineering and design teams by developing and modifying technical deliverables.

Create and update drawings, models, and documentation using CAD/BIM/3D tools.

Apply foundational civil engineering principles to produce accurate, high‑quality site design work.

Review design inputs for consistency and compliance with project standards and codes.

Perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, and estimates.

Coordinate with other design groups to exchange project information.

Provide technical guidance to junior technicians as needed.

Support continuous improvement and quality processes.

May assist with field activities or startup tasks related to specialized systems.

Required Skills

Advanced Autodesk Civil 3D experience, including grading surfaces, plan & profile development, and pipe networks.

Strong understanding of standards, document control, and civil design practices.

Ability to interpret inputs, make sound decisions, and ensure deliverable accuracy.

Experience producing moderately complex civil design concepts.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of relevant civil design or technician experience.

Diploma or certificate required; Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology preferred.

Ability to pass all pre‑employment screenings (background check, drug screen, MVR).
